Suzhou Silk Factory 1: The silkworm.

First the mulberry tree
and then the silkworms

and their days of feeding and sleeping, and their urge to climb,

silk spilling ever more copiously, until a little twisting and turning

produces this glowing perfect shell.

What then? Maybe another sort of hatching. Each hole

the eruption of a mouthless moth whose only inclination is to mate - urgently -

for life is short.
